Specialized Workshops

Bringing Home Baby: Baby Basics Course

Our top class for new parents! Although it is exciting to bring home a new baby, the transition can be scary for some new (or its-been-awhile parents) and you need to refresh your knowledge of the basics of baby care. In a 2-hour workshop, you will learn diapering, bathing and cord care, feeding and sleep, infant development, teething, temperament and useful tips for common parent questions.  The course will help you practice your skills and feel more confident in your abilities, gaining mastery of all the basic techniques you will need to care for your baby the first year.

Baby Transition for Siblings

“The baby is cute, but not as much fun as I expected.”  Children may think that a new baby will be a playmate and can be surprised. Get your kids ready for a new baby by enrolling them in a 1 ½ hour workshop just for them! Classes are arranged based on sibling age with children 2-6 and 7-12 will learn what to expect of infants, how to play with them and ways to build family relationships. This empowers siblings to be helpful while minimizing their disappointment and jealousy when a new baby takes center stage in your home.

Purposeful Play

Play is a child’s work. If you want to make the most of your child’s play, this 1-hour workshop is for you.  Parents will understand how children play and why it matters developmentally. Additionally, you will learn how to make the most of their free play and how to integrate education organically into their play time.  How to use toys you have, what toys are a must and what toys to skip are also covered. Child’s Game and Parent’s Game will be introduced, as well as tips on intervening in sibling disputes and purposeful play for babysitters, grandparents and caregivers.

·         Since babies can get bored or over-stimulated easily, Baby Play sessions for parents of infants help you keep your baby stimulated with games and toys for every age.

·         Role Play is for parents of toddlers and preschoolers, to help you make the most of this crucial time for play and understand how play builds communication and emotional intelligence. Special topics for Role Play include toy safety, rough-housing and literacy games.

·         Independent Play is for parents of school-age children and helps parents maintain family relationships through play. Special topics discussed for Independent Play include war play, guns, and video games.

Car Seat Information Session
(Individual seat installation scheduled separately)

Whether you have a new seat to install, your child is ready to graduate to the next seat, or you just want to have your seat checked to ensure complete safety, you should always have your car seat checked by a certified technician or instructor. Sessions include installation tutorial and hands-on experience for family members, as well as a baby demonstration for infant seats. Best practices, next steps and recall information are always discussed.
